A structured path, rooted in science and care
NL MINDFUL is more than a course- it is a carefully designed Stress Reduction Program, rooted in scientific research and years of teaching and counseling experience.
Structured over 8–12 weeks, this Resilience training provides a safe framework to explore stress regulation and emotional balance in Hamburg. A sustainable path to mindfulness practice — academically grounded & deeply human.
While inspired by the work of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, this Mindfulness program is not a MBSR course. Instead, it is grounded in the MBCT tradition of Prof. Mark Williams and teachings of Diana Winston at UCLA and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. NL MINDFUL follows the trauma-sensitive principles of David Treleaven. This ensures a safe, accessible, and human-centered practice for everyone.
In-Person Sessions at NL MINDFUL Hamburg
A supportive space in the heart of Hamburg
Sessions take place one-on-one, in a safe and supportive space near the Außenalster. Each session lasts 60 minutes and can be booked individually or as part of the structured 8–12 week program. All participants receive printed materials and guided audio meditations for home practice.

At NL MINDFUL in Hamburg, all sessions and personal guidance are held in German. The written lessons and guided meditations are provided in English, reflecting the International Mindfulness tradition on which the program is based. The English language often carries a clarity, simplicity, and poetic tone that is difficult to preserve in translation. Many participants even find this helpful — the gentle distance from everyday language makes it easier to let go, focus, and simply be present.

Responsible Mindfulness
Safety and care at every step
At NL MINDFUL, mindfulness is offered with responsibility and care. Before beginning, participants complete a short health questionnaire to ensure the training is suitable. When certain breathing techniques are not appropriate (e.g. asthma, migraines), safe alternatives are provided. Mindfulness is not psychotherapy, but a trauma-sensitive, research-based training that can complement therapy or help bridge waiting times.
